Looking After Yourself This Christmas

Can you believe it’s Christmas time again?

I don’t know about you, but 2022 absolutely flew by.

What words come to mind when you think of Christmas? Is it family, sunshine, good food, or laughter? 

Or is it more stress, busyness, awkward family dynamics, or bloating? 

 

 

 

 

 

As December starts, let’s decide together to make healthy switches this holiday season.

 

So how do we do this?
Physical
  1. Get physical: Wherever possible, incorporate some movement into your day. Get the whole family involved
  2. Start your day with a healthy breakfast that incorporates protein. See our Breakfast Recipes for some ideas
  3. Drink more water! 
  4. Grab some digestive enzymes: If bloating or food sensitivities are a guarantee for Christmas, support your digestion and help reduce those symptoms

 

Emotional
  1. Say no, thank you. Remember that everything you say yes to means you are saying no to something else. It’s ok to not go to everything and buy for everyone
  2. Let it go: Remember, no one is judging you if your house is not spotless, you brought pre-cut coleslaw, or you had an afternoon nap. Let go of those expectations and others’ judgments, those weights are not yours to carry. Let it go and enjoy the season
  3. Gratitude: We all know the benefits of being grateful, and oftentimes we try to remind the kids of that when they want more presents and more sweets. Don’t forget to remind yourself, take a step back, breathe and be thankful for the family, a roof over your head, food on the table and another year of memories… If it’s been a rough year, be thankful you survived and that it’s a new year around the corner. Try a few gratitude affirmations to remind yourself over this holiday season if things start getting too much

 

So remember the importance of looking after yourself this Christmas!
